Meander ending explained
The mountains closest were green, the ones behind that were slightly shaded blue, and the farther back the mountains were, the more blue they became. I never thought a drive on the Appalachien Mountains could be so beautiful! We decided what was so special about this particular route (26) through East Tennessee was the way the mountains overlapped.
Moving on from that little experience of ours, we headed south bound to eastern Tennessee. We were greeted by a "What you got there, a big 'ol drink?" (which strangely reminded me of my mother) and dismissed with a "You all have a nice day now" We knew we had entered the country when we overheard the "operator" of this Motel, Gas and Restaurant complex telling one of the visitors to the Motel that the "TV room aint got no remote, just gotta use the button" We then went to pay for our beverages from the same lady explaining the remote issue to the man, and who was probably the owner and chef at the abandoned restaurant. The place we had stumbled upon was a Motel, Gas Station, Restaurant complex. Dad, being extremely excited about this trip (rightfully so) had prepared days in advance by cleaning the truck, buying a fiberglass bin to store our things in and putting some gas in our truck.Īfter about four hours of driving, that gas had worn off and we needed to stop.
Our first stop was Asheville, NC to see the Biltmore. Today, Dad and I started out on our trip across the U.S.A.
